Teacher training residencies

The Centre for Educational and Digital Innovation (CIEDix) has successfully concluded its first teacher training residencies, during which educators Eva Castro and Francisco Ávila developed an innovative open-access educational resource titled "A Guided Tour of Our Heritage." This initiative, undertaken through a professional development programme under the submodality 1.b.3, highlights the commitment of Galician educators to integrating new methodologies into the teaching and learning process.

The educational resource is designed to engage students in creating a school-based exhibition space that showcases the outcomes of their research on local heritage, adaptable to any educational setting. This project encourages the appreciation and preservation of cultural heritage while promoting active student involvement in its study and dissemination.

The activities include tasks such as designing the exhibition project, cataloguing selected items, organising exhibition spaces, and planning outreach initiatives. Students also have the opportunity to create credentials, produce audio guides, and design virtual tours, ensuring the project’s accessibility for all members of the community. A key aspect of the resource is its focus on safety during the exhibition, emphasising the importance of an inclusive and comprehensive educational experience.

This project enables students to develop essential skills in research, teamwork, and communication while strengthening their connection to local cultural heritage. By creating this exhibition space, students contribute to the recognition and appreciation of their community’s cultural assets, raising awareness about the importance of preserving them for future generations.
