With the aim of maintaining communication channels in cutting-edge research and innovation in education, the CIEDix held meetings with representatives of the main global learning management platforms and systems. Specifically, in July 2023, the CIEDix team had high-level meetings with Carles Aguiló-Collado, Technology Partner Manager of Moodle, and Martin Dougiamas, founder and CEO of Moodle. Moodle is the collaborative, open-source learning management system used in the virtual classrooms of publicly funded educational centers in Galicia.

These meetings shed light on crucial aspects for the future of this educational platform. Collaboration and the integration of external services are seen as fundamental for the growth and adaptability of Moodle. Possibilities for integrating artificial intelligence were explored, albeit with caution given the complexity of the educational environment. Additionally, the value of open-source software and the work of Open EdTech, advocating for open and sustainable educational technologies, were emphasized.

In addition to meetings with representatives of Moodle and Open EdTech, the CIEDix team also met with representatives of Google for Education and Apple as part of their research and innovation agenda. These meetings provided an opportunity to explore the latest trends and advancements in the field of educational technology.

As a whole, these interactions provide a comprehensive insight to guide the development of educational management platforms and systems, highlighting the need for continuous adaptation in an ever-changing educational arena.
