The Institute of Galician Language (Instituto da Lingua Galega - ILG) of The University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) has just established its Social Forum, an external advisory body in which 12 members from public and private entities in the fields of education, culture, publishing, media, research, and business, among others, participate.
The main tasks of the Forum will be to discuss trends and changes in social demands that are of interest for the development of the Institute’s research, dissemination, and transfer of the different activities undertaken by the IlG, to support the development and implementation of the strategic plans of this intitution, and to convey information about the ILG to society to achieve greater projection in its area of influence.
At this Tuesday’s constitutive meeting, the director of the institute, Elisa Fernández Rei, provided the members of the Forum with information about the Institute’s scientific agenda, the actions taken to promote its research and increase its social projection, as well as the most notable activities it develops to contribute to scientific and technological advancement.
Chaired by Elisa Fernández Rei herself, the Social Forum was formally constituted in a meeting attended by the ILG’s secretary, María Álvarez de la Granja; the secretary of the Association of Actors and Actresses of Galicia, Xosé Barato; the secretary of the Center for Educational and Digital Innovation-CIEDIX, Lorena Barbeito Barciela; the director of the Singular Research Center in Intelligent Technologies-CiTIUS, Senén Barro Ameneiro; the president of the Coordinator of Language Normalization Workers-CTNL, Mónica Fernández Valencia; the Galician Language and Literature teacher at IES del Milladoiro, Valentina Formoso Gosende; the scientist from the Institute of Heritage Sciences-Incipit of CSIC, César González Pérez; the vice president of the Galician Publishers Association, Ana María Guerra Cañizo; the member of the Professional Association of Journalists of Galicia-CPXG, Ramón Paz González; the head of the R&D office of Balidea, María del Carmen López Pérez; the head of the Terminology area of the USC Language Normalization Service, Justo Rodríguez Río; the mayor of Santiago de Compostela, Goretti Sanmartín Rei, and the social media content creator, Sara Seco Rial.
