The Faculty of Education and Social Work in Ourense, part of the Universidade de Vigo, hosted a workshop aimed at students from the Primary Education degree. During the workshop, the Ágora Dixital project was introduced—a CIEDix initiative designed to bring new technologies, pedagogical approaches, and digital skills to the educational sphere.
The presentation was delivered by Jose Viñas, advisor at CIEDix and coordinator of the Ágora Dixital project. Viñas outlined the project's main objectives and emphasised the importance of integrating digital skills into modern teaching practices. He provided tools to facilitate the inclusion of these technologies and methodologies in teaching. The focus was on the design and implementation of micro-learning sequences linked to STEAM areas. These short experiences in science and technology can be easily applied in Primary, Secondary, and Early Years classrooms, using a methodology where students learn through exploration, inquiry, and problem-solving, while teachers act as facilitators.
The micro-learning sequences are available on the Ágora Dixital platform in open and editable formats, making them adaptable to various educational contexts. These resources can be reviewed in 5–10 minutes and implemented in short sessions, fitting seamlessly into teaching programmes or as part of extracurricular activities, such as science clubs. Developed by experienced Galician teachers, these resources include a teacher tips section with practical suggestions to optimise the learning experience in diverse classroom settings.
The Universidade de Vigo lecturer Almudena Alonso Ferreiro, who hosted the session, accompanied the university students and shared her expertise. Through this training, future teachers explored the potential of Ágora Dixital for developing innovative educational projects.
This initiative reaffirms CIEDix's commitment to providing initial and ongoing teacher training in digital skills and to promoting education that meets contemporary challenges. In this regard, CIEDix will continue its outreach work through workshops for future teachers, including an upcoming workshop aimed at students of the Master's Degree in Secondary Education, Vocational Training, and Language Teaching at the Universidade da Coruña.
