José Viñas, an advisor at the Centre for Educational and Digital Innovation (CIEDix), was part of the international team that produced the report “Explainable AI in Education: Fostering Human Oversight and Shared Responsibility”, recently published within the framework of the European Digital Education Hub.
Between September and December 2024, a total of 34 professionals from across Europe joined AI Squad 13, a working group focused on explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) in educational contexts. The collaboration was intense and productive, comprising 13 online meetings and a key face-to-face community workshop held in Brussels in October 2024, which helped shape the report’s main priorities.
The report is structured around three main pillars:
- Legal aspects of explainable AI
- Personalised learning through AI
- Digital literacy and critical thinking
Each area is approached from a practical perspective, offering real-world use cases and actionable recommendations for the educational community.
José Viñas’s participation in this initiative reflects the recognition of CIEDix’s work in the field of educational AI and reinforces Galicia’s presence in European spaces for educational innovation and reflection.
The full report is now available and serves as a valuable resource for educators, policymakers, and anyone interested in the ethical, safe, and transparent integration of AI into education.
